Cultural immersion and historical reflection
The retreat kicked off on 23rd November with a deep dive into Cambodia’s rich history and culture. From 23rd to 25th November, attendees explored key historical sites integral to the Cambodian experience. The journey began with visits to S21, also known as the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, and the Khmer Rouge Killing Fields, both of which offered sobering reminders of Cambodia’s tragic past. These visits were followed by trips to the Royal Palace, the National Museum, and the iconic Wat Phnom Penh, where participants admired the architectural beauty and cultural significance of these landmarks.
A poignant moment during this cultural exploration was meeting Mr. Chum Mey, one of the seven survivors still alive from the Khmer Rouge imprisonment. His firsthand account of the atrocities committed during that time was both moving and inspiring. It was an incredible privilege to hear his story, and his resilience left a profound impact on all attendees.
Celebrating 20 years of Alpadis
On the evening of 24th November, Alpadis celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special dinner at Topaz Norodom. It was a time to reflect on the company’s remarkable growth - from its humble beginnings in Switzerland to becoming a global leader in fiduciary services. The dinner was filled with warmth and camaraderie, as the team reflected on the past and looked forward to the next 20 years of continued success and collaboration.
Board meetings and vision for the future
The retreat also provided an ideal platform for in-depth discussions on Alpadis’ future direction. On 25th November, the first day of the board meeting featured presentations covering strategic plans, including the introduction of new Financial Institutions (FI) services. These discussions were pivotal in shaping the company’s future, focusing on innovation and the continued enhancement of its service offerings.
That evening, attendees visited the Gong Cultural Centre, where they enjoyed a heartfelt performance by local children. The evening beautifully blended cultural immersion with celebration, offering everyone a chance to unwind and engage meaningfully with the local community.
Visiting Smiling Gecko
On 26th November, the team had the privilege of visiting one of Alpadis’ most cherished CSR projects: Smiling Gecko. This organisation has had a significant impact on many lives through its work in education, vocational training, and sustainable farming. In the morning, the team toured the school and farmhouse, seeing firsthand the progress made in providing education and sustainable livelihoods to local communities.
The visit underscored Alpadis’ commitment to making a positive difference beyond business. After the visit, the second part of the board meeting focused on company-level discussions, which were vital in ensuring Alpadis continues to evolve as a client-focused, adaptable company at the forefront of fiduciary services.
Final discussions and future goals
In the afternoon, the second part of the board meeting focused on the company level, where attendees engaged in discussions about the internal workings of the organisation, new initiatives, and ongoing projects. These conversations were essential in ensuring that Alpadis continues to evolve as a company that is adaptable, client-focused, and at the forefront of fiduciary services.
A bright future for Alpadis
As the retreat came to a close, there was a sense of reflection on the shared experiences, the new ideas, and the strong bonds that were formed. This retreat not only allowed Alpadis to celebrate its 20th anniversary but also provided an opportunity to renew the commitment to delivering excellence for clients while making a positive impact in the communities the company serves.
